  24. Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum

    The Hampstead Neighbourhood Forum is a group of local residents and businesses. We are creating a Neighbourhood Plan under the terms of the Localism Act 2011, which gave local communities the authority to shape planning policies in their areas. This is a chance to play a bigger part in the way the village develops, and to protect the things we love about Hampstead. We are drafting the Plan and expect to circulate a first version in spring 2016 in order to obtain feedback. This follows wide consultation with local people so as to build a vision of Hampstead's future. For example, we produced a Vision document on which many residents and businesses commented. The aims and objectives that were expressed in the document were later discussed in a public meeting.

    Heath Hands is a volunteer organsiation created to help preserve the special character of Hampstead Heath and to give everyone who enjoys the Heath the opportunity to make a difference. Our volunteers work with City of London Corporation and English Heritage staff members on a variety of conservation and maintenance tasks, all over the Heath and Kenwood. There are work sessions throughout the week and at weekends, as well as special events and visits to other local open spaces.
